Old days pearl divers outfit |
Our first stop at Broome was town beach. The beautiful white sands and turquoise coloured waters were just breathtaking. After spending so much time in the ruggedness of the ‘outback’ we really appreciated the beauty of the coast.
The township of Broome was built because of the pearling industry, so we decided to learn more about pearling. We did the Pearl Luggers Tour in town where we learnt about all the history of pearling. The girls both thoroughly enjoyed this as it was a very visual talk, showing us all the attire the pearl divers had to wear and what they have used the mother of pearl for over the years. We learnt about what life was like in Broome back then. We even got to taste the pearl meat, which was quite tough and not a real strong flavour. The girls even got to buy a pearl bracelet which they are very excited about. An awesome tour.

Camel rides |
We could not leave Broome without doing the famous Cable Beach Camel Ride. We rode the yellow camels Bella and Bazza. We had a fantastic time, the ride was smooth and they were very placid animals.
Watching the bright orange sun set over the water at Cable Beach was magnificent. A very busy beach we happen to run into another family we had met in Airlie Beach here, so the kids had fun playing in the sand. We got the see Craig and John who had finished their coast to coast bike ride, well done guys.
